Spike is a Male Chihuahua that came to us from another shelter as he was cage aggressive from being scared and they couldn't adopt him out.. He appears to be about 2-4 yrs of age and HW neg. He has recently been neutered and up dated on his shots. He was scared and picky about being touched or picked up to start, but has realized that no harm is to come to him and he is now playing and getting along with everyone.. He does however have a fear of being picked up. He will jump into your lap while you are sitting, but if you attempt to stand while holding him, he gets scared and will try to jump away.. We do not know what happened that he has this fear, but we are working around this.. One way is that he will get into his kennel when you show it to him while it is lowered to the floor or if you kneel and place a towel or blanket on your lap he will let you pick him up then. He wags his tail when kids visit, but we are asking for homes without small kids just to be on the safe side.. He spent the night at my home the night before his neutering and did well. He knew what a puppy door was and wanted to sleep in the bed right along with the rest of us. Our Adoption fee is $175 which covers the vet fee for Spay/Neuter, shots, HW ck, harness & leash. We do require Adoption forms and a one time Inhome visit/check to verify that our rescues will go to great forever homes. We do not guarantee housetraining, even though they might do well at our home. It does take time, patience and understanding of everyone to help each new companion to adjust to your routines as well !! Alabama has passed the Mandatory Spay/Neuter law, so please do not ask for us to adopt out without getting this done. Please email us for an Adoption form !!
