Date Listed: May-28-08 This is a 1955 Pontiac Star Chief Convertible. This breathtaking convertible has had a complete restoration and is a sweet riding car.Excellent cruiser at 20 plus mpg! It has vintage air, power brakes , New leather and vinyl interior, New beige cloth top with all new lines, pump, and cylinders. All the stainless has been reconditioned and polished. All chrome was rechromed, and the trunk is upholstered. The body work is very straight. There was a lot of time and detail put into this restoration. It has a 350 Ram Jet engine, 700 r4 transmission, and a camaro rear end 3:08 gear.I do have the pontiac engine that came out of this car if the buyer prefers to change it out .However, it is not the correct 55 model engine . I believe it was out of a 66 Pontiac. For abundent power, cruising and added mpg we chose the 350 .It has the power needed to pull the air conditioner much better than the Pontiac motor that came in the 55 originally. We have taken this car to several car shows along with our 55 Chevy convertible. You would be amazed that this Pontiac actually gets as much , if not more attention than the 55 Chevy convertible which retails in todays market for $100,000 or more. The value on these Star Chief convertibles has risen steadily over the past few years and could easily climb to the selling price of the 55 and 57 Chevy convertibles in the years to come.Less than 10% of Pontiacs total production for 1955 were convertibles. That is why these cars are so collectable today. This makes the Pontiac Star Chief Convertible wonderful investment material.Especially one as nice as this! Between 1954 and 1957 the Star Chief was Pontiac's prestige model; the car was easily identified by it's star chrome trim along its sides. Please notice in the pictures some of the detailed gold chrome detail work .It really sets this car off and adds a ton of class. You wont see this everyday. Some may remember the popularity of the Star Chief when the storyline of "I love Lucy" pointed towards a Hollywood setting in the 1954-1955 season, the characters drove (in episode 100) to the West Coast in a 1955 Star Chief convertible. I am asking below book value on this car.I have visited classiccars web site and found a similiar 55 Star Chief convertible It was not nearly as nice as this one.It didn't have air conditioning and it was listed for $59,900. So don't miss out on this chance to own one of the best for much less. Once spring arrives the prices on convertibles will immediatly go up. The vehicle is available for inspection by appointment. Please call 256-239-3992 to set up a time to view the car.
